How to create a general formula – Fibonacci Sequence?

hi!
I have a piece of that asks me to investigate adding successive terms of the , either odd-numbered or even-numbered
eg
F1 + F3 +
or
F2 + + F6 + F8
etc

And I am stuck on this: (For odd-numbered terms)
"Can you generate a general formula for F1 + F3 + F5 …. + F -1 in terms of ‘n’?"
&; for even-numbered terms
"Can you generate a general formula for F2 + F4 + F6 …. + F 2n in terms of ‘n’?"

I have no idea how to do this!
Any suggestions or of help would be much appreciated!
