If you have the time, knowledge and desire; the stock market produces the best gains of all investments (including real estate). However it take effort and some basic knowledge. You can gain the knowledge easy on-line at site like the street.com, investopedia, marketwatch.com etc etc etc.

Real Estate is a good investment BUT if you plan on renting, you will need to know and have the working capital to fix issues with the house etc.

If you want, set up an IRA and place some of the funds in there each month (tax deductible).

Whatever you chose to do, you will be in a better place. If I had to chose, I would go with the stock market. It is exciting and accessible.

Real estate definately. Go to the HUD website for the best deals. Or buy a duplex and rent it out. If you have the $$ find a property mgmt company to handle the rental aspects. Good for you!

Select your state, then find the link to look at properties.

The trick to steady growth is a boring stock portfolio. Diversify the stocks you buy into many different areas and you most likely won’t get fast growth, but it will be steady. Also gold and platinum are very reliable commodities, silver too, and will most likely result in big money. I would put one third of your money into real estate, one third in the stock market and/or commodities, and the last third into bonds, which are good at providing a slow, but steady, source of income.
    Good luck with the investing!
